The Mac app

• Headroom works on your Mac. It reads the session logs your coding tools already keep and the logins they already have, read-only, and keeps what it measures on your Mac. Anything it needs to store securely goes in your Keychain.
• There's no Headroom account and no analytics in the app. To show your limits it talks directly to your own providers (for example OpenAI or Anthropic), for your own account.
• To check for updates, it asks headroom.bar for the latest version, and updates download from GitHub. Those requests carry your IP address and the app version, like any web request.
• Send feedback… opens a web form. Nothing is sent unless you press Send.

This website

• Your email, when you join the list or the beta, with the page you joined from and when. We use it to send your invite, beta news, your Founding licence and launch news.
• Feedback you send: your message, the app version, and your email only if you add it.
• Visits. We use Google Analytics to see how people find and use this website: pages viewed, roughly where visitors come from, and whether a signup or download worked. It never sees what you type into our forms. In the EU, UK and Switzerland it runs without analytics cookies, and nowhere do we use it for advertising.
• Other cookies: one lets invited people into the beta page, and your browser may remember that you've already signed up.

Who handles it

We use a few providers to run this: Convex stores the list and feedback, Postmark sends our emails, Vercel hosts the site, Google Analytics measures visits to the website, MXroute hosts our inbox, and GitHub hosts the downloads. Some of them run servers outside South Africa. We don't sell or share your details with anyone else.

Your choices

Want to see what we have, fix it or have it deleted? Email hello@headroom.bar or just reply to any email from us, and we'll sort it out. You can also ask us to stop emailing you at any time.

We keep your email until you ask us to remove it or we close the list. If this page changes in a way that matters, we'll say so here with a new date.
