Codex usage limits, right in your menu bar.
See what's left of your Codex limits, when each one resets, and how many banked resets you have before the next one expires.
Short answer
How do Codex usage limits work?
ChatGPT plans that include Codex have a weekly limit, and some plans add a 5-hour limit. You can see yours with /status in the Codex CLI. Codex also has rate-limit reset credits that expire, and Headroom keeps all of it in your Mac menu bar: what's left of each limit, when it resets, and how many credits you have before the next one expires.

The limits
What limits does Codex have?
A weekly limit, a 5-hour limit on some plans, and reset credits that expire. Headroom gives each limit its own row, with a bar, your pace and a reset countdown, and counts your credits as banked resets.

They expire. Headroom calls them banked resets.

What Headroom shows
Every limit, its pace and its reset.
Headroom reads your Codex limits and lays each one out like the app's menu: what's left, an even-pace mark and when it resets, with your banked resets on top.
The tick is an even pace: 62% left with 4d 8h to go.
Ahead or behind, at a glance
The tick on a bar marks an even pace through its window. Headroom tells you how many points you're ahead of it, or behind.

Where did your Codex tokens go?
Headroom reads Codex's session logs on your Mac: tokens by model, reasoning effort and project, with an estimated API-equivalent cost.
Read from ~/.codex/sessions on this Mac. Cost is an estimated API equivalent, not what your plan charges. Illustrative data.

03 / 09

What do “ahead” and “behind” mean in Headroom?
They compare what you've used with an even pace through the window. “9 ahead” means 9 percentage points less used than an even pace; “5 behind” means 5 more. The tick on a bar marks that even pace.

Can I track more than one ChatGPT account?
Yes. Sign in with another ChatGPT account, or bring in the accounts you already saved with codex-auth. Each keeps its own limits and resets, never pooled into one number.

It can show the account you're using now, so the reading in your menu bar matches the account you're working in.
